HAIRSPRAY- If you have not already purchased tickets for our LMS production of “Hairspray” I strongly encourage you to come here tonight or tomorrow night and purchase them at the door. The kids have worked extremely hard and the production is sure to impress the most avid musical lover! The performance begins promptly at 7:00 p.m. Hope to see you there!

STUDENT COUNCIL INITIATIVE- Our student council is working at hard to promote kindness here at LMS. A bulletin board has been created outside guidance encouraging students to participate in the "Random Acts of Kindness Challenge." Please ask your child about this initiative and feel free to encourage him/her to participate!

ACE ACADEMY- Information about the ACE Academy, an Aviation Career Education Summer Camp, is available in the main office. This week-long summer day camp is held at the Groton/New London Airport. Students will be building and testing models, taking field trips, meeting aerospace professionals and taking a real flight. This camp is being run by Mr. Sharack, who has taught in Ledyard schools and who wants to motivate young teens to pursue aerospace-related careers.

LIFT SUMMER CAMP – Attention seventh grade students: Applications are available for a 4-day overnight summer camp for the Science and Technology Magnet High School in New London. Students will participate in engineering and science activities, listen to guest speakers and take field trips to colleges and businesses specializing in STEM fields. The cost of the camp is $200. Applications must be signed by Mrs. Pollin. They can be picked up in the main office, or guidance.

GENCYBER AGENT ACADEMY- It is a pleasure to announce an opportunity occurring this summer for students interested in technology who will be in the 9-12th grade in the fall. The University of New Haven’s College of Engineering received a grant for students to attend a cyber security summer academy sponsored by the National Security Agency and the National Science Foundation. It's a one-week day camp called GenCyber Agent Academy (https://cyberagent.newhaven.edu) that will run the week of July 24th - July 29th. The program is granted-funded, so accepted students will participate for free. The application deadline is  May 15th. If your child is interested in a technology field, this could be a great experience and a nice mention on their college applications. Please check the aforementioned link for more information.
