START OF SCHOOL- Thank you all for your support and cooperation these last few days as we were getting back into the swing of things and ironing out small wrinkles here and there in virtually all facets from transportation to scheduling. Flexibility is a prerequisite to survive in a middle school, and fortunately it has been made very clear that we have much! And to boot, we have such amazing young people here at LMS, and they have managed all of their responsibilities quite well.

CHROMEBOOKS- An email was sent out today regarding distribution of chromebooks and all necessary information and steps required for your child to receive one. We will be distributing them next Thursday to only students whose parents have completed all necessary steps indicated in the aforementioned email. Please refer to that email or the district webpage if you need any of the information or if you need the necessary links. It is extremely important that we get a chromebook into every one of our student’s hands, and your cooperation is greatly appreciated to help us do so.

CYCLING CLUB- The first practice for the LMS Cycling Club will be held after school this Wednesday, September 6th until 4:00. To pick up an information packet, or if you have any questions, please see Mrs. Gallagher in the red cluster. We also have extra packets in the office. This club is available to any interested students!

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT- Our annual Back to School Night is scheduled for next Thursday, September 7th from 6:30-8:00 p.m. All parents are encouraged to come get an overview of what your child’s day looks like and hear firsthand from each of his/her teachers. We will begin the event in the cafeteria followed by parents attending their child’s classes in a simulated schedule. It’s always an informative event and serves as a great way to match faces with all of the names you see on your child’s schedule.

CROSS COUNTRY- Any students who are interested in working out, making friends, and having fun are encouraged to join cross country! This program is one of our inter-scholastic sports, and the season will include participating in several different meets against other middle schools. All students will be given the opportunity to sign up during lunch blocks beginning next week. Each student must be medically cleared to start practice (first practice date is still TBD). If you have any questions, please feel free to email or call Mr. Jerry Lentz ([email protected]) or Mr. Jim Moffett ([email protected]), the  boys’ and girls’ coaches respectively. If you have questions regarding whether or not your child is cleared medically, please email Mrs. Maryellen Grace ([email protected]), our school nurse.

SCHOOL STORE- We have a school store at LMS that is run by our Parent Teacher Connection (PTC). This year Mrs. Laurel Weirs will be coordinating it, and she is looking for volunteers to come in during lunch waves to work at it. Those interested are encouraged to contact her directly  at [email protected].

Notes from the PTC:

Please see the attached form to join the LMS PTC, as well as to find a list of the many opportunities available for parents to volunteer. Our PTC is very active and does a phenomenal job of enriching the overall experience of our students in a variety of ways. For a detailed list of accomplishments please check out the second page of the attachment and consider for just a moment that it comprises just one year! It’s quite impressive to say the least, and we look forward to getting more parents involved this year!
