CHROMEBOOKS- At this point we have only a handful of chromebooks we are waiting to give to students and will do so when parents complete the sign-off. To those who have not done so, it is very, very important that you take care of this as soon as possible. Additionally, we have a larger number who have not elected to participate in the protection plan which obviously is not a requirement. I will say that in the brief amount of time students have had access to their chromebooks and have been using them we are already seeing incidents involving broken screens, and other damages occurring. BEGINNING OF YEAR FORMS- We are still missing quite a few of the forms packets that were given to students on the first day of school and were due back by September 8th. Please check with your child and in their backpack, if you did not receive a packet. Please complete and return the forms by September 22nd. If you need another set of forms please contact Michelle Edwards at [email protected] or 860-464-0200.
MATHCOUNTS- The first meeting of Mathcounts will be Monday, September 18th after school in Mrs. Hanselman's room. We will meet from 2:05-3:30. Mathcounts is a program sponsored by the National Society of Professional Engineers. We work on challenging math problems and compete with other schools as a team. This program is open to any interested student, however, for inter-scholastic competitions we will send one team of our top four students. INTRAMURAL FOOTBALL- Intramural Ultimate Football will meet after school next Wednesday, September 20th. The session will end at 3:30. Please remember to sign up for after-school activities, and on Mr. T's sheet, which will be in the office that morning. Only 30 students will be allowed to participate.
SCHOOL PICTURES- The LMS school pictures will be taken next Thursday, September 21st, in the morning. Bring the envelope, with your payment and package choices, to school that morning, and give it to the photographer. Late orders will be accepted, online only, for two days after that.
PRUDENTIAL SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY AWARD- The Prudential Spirit of Community Award is America’s largest youth recognition program based solely on volunteer service. It recognizes students who have made meaningful volunteering services to their communities.
Students who have participated in community service activities over the past year are invited to fill out an online application at spirit.prudential.com or nassp.org/spirit by November 7th. The application may then be submitted to Mr. Pomroy. The school’s top volunteer (if he/she has met a minimum number of volunteer hours) will become eligible to win $1,000 and an all-expense paid trip with a parent or guardian to Washington, D.C.
LIB-GUIDE- Our Library-Media Specialist, Mrs. Kathleen Smith has created a link on the LMS webpage that is very helpful to anyone who is doing research for any kind of project or just out of curiosity. LEDYARD COLOR ME FALL FEST is October 14th! - The second annual Color-A-Thon Color Me Fall Fest is coming!! This will be the only fundraiser the PTC will have this year and it will help fund in school enrichment at LMS! Parents, Teachers and staff are welcome to join in on the fun too! In addition to the color fun run, there are many fun family activities planned. ***NEW*** this year there will be a HUGE inflatable obstacle course following the color run. There will also be pony rides, hayrides, bounce houses, pumpkin painting and MORE. All activities are FREE! Food trucks will also be on site to satisfy your hunger and an ice cream truck for your sweet tooth.
