The middle school focuses on our core values of Kindness, Responsibility, and Integrity while supporting the school motto of “Own It.” Curricular goals include the meaningful integration of technology, preparing students for high school while solidifying the foundational skills in literacy and mathematics, and allowing for individualized growth in core content standards in all areas.

The Ledyard Middle School has undergone major transitions in the past 6 years with a $40m renovation and the addition of a 6th grade bring the total student population to over 550. In addition to the students and the building, the operational structure has been in the process of being reorganized with daily schedule and programming changes. The school has added staffing during the past four budget cycles and now have a special education administrator, 3 school counselors, school social worker, math and ELA interventionists, an agriculture/ environmental science program, a digital media art program, a family and consumer sciences program, and physical education programming to allow students activity all year. The daily schedule is a 4x4 block schedule with some tweaks on the horizon (splitting some blocks) to address missed instruction and Tier 2 supports.
