LMS Grade 8 Recognition Ceremony 2026

Where: Judge Crandall Field on the LMS/GFS/JWL campus. LMS students will have arranged seating and families are asked to bring chairs, blankets, etc. and will be facing the students. Sun glare should not be a factor. If there are any special needs with wheelchairs, etc. please use the wooden walkway and ramps or contact me directly for solutions.
When: Monday June 22nd. 5:00 Start. Grade 8 students should arrive no later than 4:30pm in the LMS auditorium (as an initial gathering space). Students will line up and then proceed to the field at 4:52. Students will walk in front of the school toward the field in alphabetical order so that parents can take pictures.
Parking: Parking is available on the entire site- please use the JWL/GFS and church lots as well. The front bus lane will be blocked off to traffic as well as the parent pick up lane.
Dress: Students are asked to dress appropriately for the occasion. They will process to and from the bleachers on the grass so please plan for appropriate footwear.
Pictures: Students will have time after the ceremony for pictures with family. At the end of the ceremony, students will process back to the front of the school where you can meet them in the “bus lane” and sidewalk area on level pavement and after that time, students can head into the cafeteria for the LMS PTO Dance and Social which will have food, beverage and a dance for students.
Cell Phones: My goal is that students enjoy their time in the moment and not be so “phone- centric” so cell phones will be permitted at the social but not to be used during the ceremony.
Student Seating and Receiving Awards: Students will be seated alphabetically. Students will stand and be recognized when they receive their promotion certificate and also if they receive additional awards. This decision was done to help streamline the program.
Signs and Cheering: It is encouraged to make signs and cheer for students during this program.
Pets/ Alcoholic Beverages/ Tobacco Use: Pets are not permitted on the field for this event. Tobacco/ vaping and alcoholic beverages are not permitted.
Student Pick Up at 8:00pm: Dance ends at 7:45pm. Students will able to be picked up promptly at 8:00pm. We will have teachers outside directing traffic and will use the front bus lane and the front parking lot as the area to pick up and exit the school.

March 23rd–March 27th is College & Post-Secondary Education Week
During this week, LMS School Counselors will be visiting classrooms to help students begin thinking about their post-secondary educational paths. Students will be using Naviance, and the lessons will be tailored to each grade level.
Each morning, students will hear a “College or Post-secondary Word of the Day” along with information about a featured school, career path, or educational opportunity. In addition, be sure to check out our College Bulletin Board, which highlights LMS staff members and where they attended school.
All students are encouraged to participate in College Apparel Day on Friday, March 27th by wearing gear from their favorite college or post-secondary program.
To help spark conversations about college and career pathways at home, students may also complete an optional parent interview about your college or post-secondary experiences. If your child returns the completed interview to their School Counselor by Monday, March 30th, they will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win some college swag!
